What to Bring in Your EDCRK

You may have heard of an everyday carry collection, but you can also bring your own repair kit.

It can be very costly to create your own everyday carry collection repair kit – better known as an EDCRK – particularly for those who want the best from their equipment. Here are the basic tools you need for your EDCRK in a more practical way to equip yourself on the go.

1. Small knife

If you are new to knives, we recommend starting with a small knife. It can be useful for almost anything from opening packages to cutting rope to being another tool of self-defense. Because of all the flexibility, a knife is the most critical tool in anyone’s EDCKR.

2. Slim wallet

A slim wallet is the only wallet worth carrying since you just need your ID and cash. No one needs to be carrying around a thick wallet.

3. Cash

In certain situations, cash has more bargaining power. Your bank could put a hold on your account. Disaster could strike, leaving cash as the only way to pay for things. Always bring a reasonable amount of cash with you so that if you can’t use your card or if a situation is more appropriate for cash, you are set.

4. Flashlight

For several emergencies, a flashlight may come in handy. It can be a weapon for self-defense, lighting up rooms or a tool for signaling. Find one that is reliable, uses common batteries, and is lightweight enough to clip to your pocket.

5. Cellphone

Of course, don’t forget your cellphone! You know that you use it in your daily life to keep in touch and check store hours. Keep your phone charged in case you need to make emergency calls or find directions if you get lost.

6. IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit)

An IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) may be anything from a basic kit to treat headaches, minor cuts and wounds to a kit that can include tools to handle serious injuries until you can contact medical help. This is a life-saving essential item you need to include in your kit.

7.  Notebook and Pen

Although many people rely on technology to take notes and make lists, nothing beats the authenticity of pen and paper. It’s helpful to write quick notes, leave a message and share details with others.

8. Water Bottle

Not only does a healthy water bottle allow you to keep hydrated. It will keep you from dehydrating by getting good clean water, and you can also use the water to clean wounds. You can also use it to boil water over an open fire if you buy a stainless-steel water bottle.

9. Paracord

One of the best cordages you can buy is 550 Paracord. It doesn’t weigh much and is cheap. It’s incredibly versatile from securing your belongings to using it as a lanyard to making it a makeshift sling. There’s no doubt that this cordage could end up saving your lie.

10. Self-Defense Tool

Bring a means of defending yourself and your loved ones, based on your local rules. It may be a knife, pepper spray or a small baton. The last thing you’d want for yourself is to make you or your family victims of a heinous crime.

Everyone’s needs are different, but these items can help cover any small crises to big disasters you may come across in your life. Keep these in your car or in a backpack so you can use these for whatever you need.
